FAMILY BACKGROUND: 37-year-old mother of two received her greatest blessing last Christmas Eve when her long-awaited baby girl was born. Against all odds, her newborn survived a traumatic birth and a highest-grade brain bleed. There are still no clear answers about her long-term quality of life, as she cannot sit, roll over, or crawl, and she now requires glasses. Caring for her medically fragile infant has become the family’s entire focus. They spend their days in therapy and applying for clinical trials, doing everything possible to give her the best chance at progress. With so much energy devoted to the baby’s needs, the family is applying for support so they can still bring joy to their 9-year-old this Christmas.
