FAMILY BACKGROUND: 45-year-old single mother underwent a preventative double mastectomy two years ago, one of the hardest decisions she has ever had to make. With a strong family history of breast cancer in both her mother and sister, she chose surgery to protect her health and future. Since then, life has been very different. She has not been able to return to full-time work, and even though she works part-time, it has been extremely difficult to make ends meet. The recovery process has taken more from her than she expected, both physically and emotionally. She has lost a lot of feeling in her upper and lower extremities, which limits what she can do physically, and the changes to her body have deeply affected her confidence and self-esteem. Despite all of this, she is determined to keep moving forward for her three daughters and is asking for a little help to give them a brighter holiday season. Any support they receive would mean so much.
