FAMILY BACKGROUND: 38-year-old divorced mother of three young children has been working to rebuild a safe and stable life after leaving an abusive marriage. She and her children are protected by a restraining order, which has been violated multiple times, resulting in jail time for her ex-husband. Since his release, her children’s safety and well-being have remained her top priority. She works full-time while her children are in school, but as a low-income parent, it is difficult to cover all of their basic needs on her own. The family receives food stamps and Medicaid, which help them get by, but after paying rent and essential bills there is often very little to nothing left over, and sometimes even negative balances. She does not have the extra funds to provide Christmas gifts for her children this year. Any help or gifts for her children would be a true blessing, bringing joy to their holiday season and lifting a tremendous burden from her shoulders.
