FAMILY BACKGROUND: 62-year-old disabled single mother is caring for her daughter, who lives with Down Syndrome, Autism, Celiac disease, and multiple chronic medical conditions. Her daughter has undergone several major life-saving surgeries, including open heart surgery, an intestinal bypass surgery at birth, gallbladder removal, pectus excavatum repair, and additional procedures. Despite her medical fragility, she remains joyful, loving, sweet, and full of humor. She developmentally functions around age seven and still believes deeply in the magic of Christmas.

This year has been especially difficult as the family recently lost their beloved 14-year-old blind and diabetic pug. A friend helped them adopt another sweet pug for emotional support, bringing comfort to her daughter. The household survives on a very limited Social Security income and food stamps, which are currently in question. They rarely make it through the month and often rely on local food pantries. Their rental home also has significant issues, and they are in the process of moving to another small local home. She hopes for help to make their new place more comfortable, to stock their pantry, fridge, and freezer, and to ensure her daughter has what she needs, including the baby wipes they go through daily due to toileting challenges.
