FAMILY BACKGROUND: 44-year-old single mother of three has faced a difficult and unexpected year after her landlord refused to renew her lease so the apartment could be rented for $900 more each month. With only three months to move, she and her children were forced to scramble to find a new home. Before the lease ended, the landlord rigged the boiler so the heat stayed on constantly, causing her electric bill to skyrocket to over $300 each month, draining the money she needed to relocate.

By the time they found a new place to live, much of their savings had been wiped out, and they had to throw away a large portion of their belongings. Her children handled the sudden changes with maturity, even sorting through toys and giving up things they couldn’t bring with them. But the timing of the move, happening right before the holiday season, left this family starting from scratch with nothing left for Christmas.

She is working hard to rebuild and hopes her children can still experience joy this Christmas despite everything they’ve been through. She is grateful to anyone who takes the time to read her story and consider supporting her family.
