FAMILY BACKGROUND: 37-year-old single mother of four has endured one of the most difficult years of her life. She supports her children entirely on her own with no outside help. As 2024 ended, she was determined to finally launch the business she had dreamed about for a decade, but instead, 2025 brought a series of painful and life-changing hardships.

In February, she lost her grandmother, whom she was very close to. Shortly after, she tested positive for COVID and missed over a week of work without pay. On April 7, she was involved in a car accident in which her vehicle was totaled. Although no one was injured, the financial setback was significant.

Later that month, on April 29, she was an innocent passenger in her twin sister’s SUV when they were struck in a serious crash. The airbags failed to deploy, and both sisters were injured. Her sister suffered facial injuries and a broken nose. She herself sustained multiple injuries including two facial fractures, a bone chip in her foot, a rib contusion, whiplash, a collapsed lung, and permanent damage according to her chiropractor. This accident led to the loss of her job and childcare—further destabilizing her ability to provide for her children.

Months later, in October, her identical twin sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her sister is also a mother of four and has no childcare support, so she has been helping as much as possible while managing her own injuries and responsibilities. One of her sister’s children is autistic and requires additional care.

Despite every hardship, she has refused to lose faith. She continues doing everything she can for her children and remains grateful for any help that could make their holiday season brighter. She hopes to someday pay forward the kindness shown to her family.
