FAMILY BACKGROUND: 38-year-old single mother of three working to rebuild after two car accidents, job loss, surgery, and financial hardship. Earlier this year, she was involved in two collisions that caused injuries, chronic pain, and the loss of a nearly paid-off vehicle. Declining physical ability affected her job performance, and after eight years of employment, she was let go. She eventually found another job, but much of her income has gone toward catching up on overdue bills and maintaining a payment plan to keep a roof over her children’s heads. Despite these setbacks, her children have shown understanding and maturity. After recent knee surgery related to the accidents, they have stepped up to help her at home. Although the family cannot afford the activities they once enjoyed, they remain close, resourceful, and grateful for any support that helps brighten their holiday season.
